Sundays in the Park

Portrait Photography

Sunset in Santa Monica

Shortly after moving to Los Angeles, I had the pleasure of photographing and recording musician Zach Rose during his "Sundays in the Park" series. In this series, Zach plays and loops piano and guitar in Palisades Park, Santa Monica.

This particular session was recorded at sunset, and the images I captured beautifully evoke the magical quality of the golden hour light. The glowing gradient of turquoise blue and salmon red in the sky encapsulated the quintessential California sunset, creating a perfect backdrop for Zach's music.

Experimenting with Filters and Processing

For this project, I decided to be more experimental with my filters and processing techniques. I aimed to capture not just the visual beauty of the sunset but also the emotional and atmospheric essence of the moment. The resulting photos and videos were varied in their output, ranging from clean, high-resolution images to those with a vintage Polaroid look. This blend of styles provided Zach with a diverse collection of media that truly represented the spirit of his music and the unique environment of the park.

Evoking California

The images from this session reflect the vibrant and laid-back vibe of California, with the golden hour light adding a dreamy quality to each shot. Zach's music, combined with the stunning backdrop of Palisades Park, created an atmosphere of warmth and creativity that is palpable in every photograph. This project not only highlights Zach's talent but also my ability to capture and enhance the mood and essence of a live performance in a natural setting.
